| What you're sounding like is, if others discuss something you are not interested in, then nothing they say can make any sense to you. So what was the point of you trying to be funny about something I said again? |

Shit, it's late, but I'll have a go...
Of course "less than great lyrics can work perfectly". What I'm aiming at is; for the lyrics to fit well with the music is the most important part when it comes to a song.
If they happen to be philosphical as hell and/or enlightening or hilarious in any way, that's a darn bonus.
They don't have to, though. You shouldn't really look at 'em outside of the context.
And, I don't consider you a snob.
(Currently listening to TANK's Filth Hounds...
those lyrics are something else...) |

| Lyrics are just lyrics, they are not poetry. You can't expect from a bunch of musicians to also be writers or poets. |

| I don't want to be dishonest, I was thinking about how it usually -is- hard to separate the music from the lyrics after all, and I noticed that I am in fact quite selective about when I do so, or do not, when judging the lyrics. |

| I think I have to agree with some users regarding the fact that I never quite understood the hype around Motorhead. Never felt they were anywhere close to the likes of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden .....even Venom. I still have a lot of respect for them and by no means I think they are an average band. But I feel they are a bit overrated. Never got to see them live though and from the previous comments it seems by doing so (hopefully soon) they might gather positions in my preference list. |

On the contrary, i never understood the hype about Venom.
Ok, i know that many of you will crucify me but i never liked them, the only album i have in my collection is the one that doesn't sound like classic Venom, the "Calm before the storm". But i do respect them for their historic significance and the one time i saw them live (back in 1997) i must admit that they delivered a good show. |

| Love 'em. They're one of the few bands that released a comp (No Remorse) that was better than their studio LPs! |
