Is anyone going to see this or has seen it? If so what is it like? It looks quite interesting. Seems it is getting some good press.
No doubt various celebs who have never heard the band will be claiming to be life long fans now... expect Paris Hilton in an Anvil t-shirt anytime soon!! |

Yeah, and very soon they are the band that everyone used to know of: "They were pretty cool in 2008-09 but not anymore, after all they're just a bunch of losers not even worthy to laugh at..."
A real prophet I am - which, just as in Seventh son of a Seventh son, can hurt!
So fuck 'em celebs! |

Thing is you have poeple like Lars Ulrich, Slash, Scott ian etc now singing the bands praises & claiming they were an influence etc.
If they cared about the band that fucking much they would take them on tour with them rather than some band like Lamb of God. |

Went & saw this at the Melbourne Film Festival (with Nightlock) around September last year (I think?) & it was great, but all the fucking yuppie, hippie, uni student, geek journalist, art-fags basically thought it was the funniest real life Spinal Tap documentary they'd ever seen & cacked themselves laughing throughout the entire movie..
...it is a pretty funny film and Lips is just an absolute genius & great entertainer. But it's also really unfortunate the situation they've been in for the past decade or more and now I know why they never got anywhere b'cos I don't think anyone ever took them seriously!? Not that I ever really did either, but they are one of the best epitomes of METAL in the true sense, but I think when you get these kind of movies & 'non-metal' people seeing it, it just makes the whole genre kinda look silly in their eyes, like the way Ozzy became a 'celebrity' & lost a great deal of respect (well for me anyway).
I just wish I knew when this was being released on DVD??? |

I went to see it in Dublin last week as part of the Jameson Film Festival. It was amazing!! The first thing you saw as you walked into the screen was a drumkit and amps. The movie itself was 10/10. A warts-n-all portrayal of one of the most down to earth, down in luck, Heavy metal bands on the planet. Lips, Reiner and G5 ran into the screen straight after the credits and plugged in and played! They had some technical issues (bass amp didn't work) so Lips took some questions from the sold-out audience before they started up again. Huge instrumentals, "This Is Thirteen", "666" and "Metal on Metal". Best 10 quid I think I've ever spent!

That's the kind of thing I'm afraid about. All the advertisements I've seen on TV hype the "real life SPINAL TAP" angle. I'll try to check out the Philadelphia premiere though if it doesn't sell out. There's going to be a live performance here after the film as well. |

Having travelled all the way to Tokyo only to see their band name at 11:35 a.m. on the festival schedule
Listen, for me, I’ll play for no one. I don’t give a shit. I love to play just to hear the sound and create that vibe of being Anvil, I live for that.
We love you, Lips. |

| I saw this band at least 6-7 times, and it remains my favorite live band ever. Lips had told me two years ago that they were filming a documentary about him... I seriously thought it was going to be a low-budget, MTV style documentary, but turns out that this is an incredible, incredibly well produced movie! I finally saw it last month in Montreal, and was really blown away by it. ANVIL is a die-hard band that always did what they wanted and never stopped, and they finally got the credit they deserve. HAIL ANVIL! |
