You could check a few crass reviews at Metal Archives where some people compare their latter output to mallcore and whatnot.

Yeah, but if I want the opinion of dumbass teen-agers who think Dragonforce were the first ever Power Metal band I'll just go conduct a survey outside Hot Topic Laughing

(if they don't have Hot Topics outside the US, it's a chain of shopping mall botique stores that cater to mallcore kids, diaper-punks, hipsters, and other indie-alternative scensters)

No actually I think it's Boris or some other THRASH IS FAST purist that unfavourably compares the later material to something like groove metal, I don't really remember exactly nor do I care to read those reviews again but it was something like that.

Great band.
I like all their albums equal.
I can listen to anyone of them at anytime & really enjoy it.
If I had to say one though, it would be 'Manic Impresssions'. As DaN said 'I Love The World' was a standout track back then.
BELIEVER also had that similar razor-sharp guitar sound & tech-thrash style...

He accused them of being the first emo metal band.

"Suffering Hour" all the way for me. I was particularly fond of "Butcher's Block" when I played this back in the day.

I used to own the American cd but I sold it. I'd love to have this again but its $142.95 at Amazon marketplace. Ouch!

Apparent there are crap bootlegs about that split one of the songs and have text errors in the booklet. No thanks.

I have relistened to Manic Impressions and Screams and Whispers now and they both are great (can't belive they have remained unplayed for most of the last decade) but i believe the latter is the one who will get my vote. The decisive factor would be a warmer sound and more melodic songs (well, better songs then!). Much more warmth than I remembered. I listened to the records laying in bed with headphones in complete darkness and even if I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics (just some words and the expressive vocal qualities) the emotional impact was really intense and heavy. Goosebumpin' stuff indeed. I still can't really figure out if the quite frequenly used keyboards with it's supposedly natural sounding "real" instruments (strings, horns and the piano I suppose) makes it all sound a tad bit cheap and if the record would be better off with some less obvious sounds or even complete exclusion of keys. Anyhow - I'm stunned!

Gotta give Reason and Suffering Hour an equal chance before I cast my vote (not that I'd give them much hope).

Am I an Emo-dad now?

Screams And Whispers for me, with Manic following shortly. I have very fond memories on this band. They were support for Death on Individual Tour ... back in 1993. I especially like the vocals of Ken Nardi combined with sheer musical invention. Unique and excellent!

Love every album they've done, and every one has been my favorite (or least favorite) at some point. Right now I'll say Reason since it's still very thrashy, but with enough melodic/progressive parts to make it unique. Their "No More Color".

My fave-album by ANACRUSIS is definitely "Screams And Whispers", great atmosphere, great technical skills, great lyrics and unique.
They were too early on the stage of the scene with that monumental release...
