Hey, get your mind out of the gutter. What I mean is, what are some things that you might not actively collect, but always seem to get you to shell out more money for an album than you normally would? For example, are you a sucker for fantasy covers? Does the phrase "private release" instantly make you open your wallet?
For me, I've always had a thing for women in metal ever since I first heard Triumph and Agony as a young teenager. Now I'm always more inclined to buy an album if it has female members.
A more unusual fetish of mine is label debuts. If I see that an album is the first release by a particular label, I’m much more inclined to shell out my hard-earned cash.
So what about you? |

| Black/white or black/white/red record covers. There's no coincident the Corroseum layout follow these rigid rules. I'm also a sucker for 'minority-metal', like all-girl bands, all-blacks etc. Certain countries of origin also give me these buy-me vibes, especially Italy, Russia and Belgium. Extremely ugly cover art I tend to buy just for fun, if prices are moderate. |

| I used to collect anything related to Megadeth in their primetime: 1985-1990. These days I'm abandoning that fetish though. I have a huge weakspot though for albumns with covers drawn by Ed Repka...like Ludichrist, Massacre, Nuclear Assault etc. |

| Records that have to do with Beer, lyrics or covers, and any cheaper records with fantasy/Mike Hoffman covers. Any recommendations for obscure records with fantasy covers that contain top notch tunes? |

Some seldom mentioned but great ones in that cathegory:
HEADSTONE (GER) - Excalibur
COVEN (Detroit) - Worship New Gods
DRAKAR (CZE) - Let Draka
Personally I think a lot of those very beautiful fantasy cover art records comes with rather disappointing, unoriginal content. (WYZARD anyone?) |
