Vinyl or CD, what would be your Top 10 albums to be stranded with on a desert island?
Basically, albums that you could not possibly live without for a long period of time, and would regularly listen to?
These are mine in no particular order:

VOIVOD-KILLING TECHNOLOGY
BLUE OYSTER CULT-AGENTS OF MISFORTUNE
RUSH-HEMISPHERES
EXUMER-POSSESSED BY FIRE
LYNYRD SKYNYRD-STREET SURVIVORS
MERCYFUL FATE-DON'T BREAK THE OATH
RAZOR-VIOLENT RESTITUTION
SAVATAGE-HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING |

I'm surprised that Don't Break the Oath is considered more essential than Melissa!
Nice to see a wide selection of Candlemass represented, but come on, Epicus! |

Well actually for me, I could suffice with practically any album from any of the bands I listed. Be Forewarned, Melissa, Mythical and Magical, Into Glory Ride, Mark of the Beast, Frost and Fire, etc... Too much essential Metal, if there is such a thing! |

I would maybe take The Beginning. I know, I know it's just a compilation album but I don't know if I could live there in the desert island without DOOMED BY THE LIVING DEAD and Nuns Have No Fun EP just wouldn't be enough. Though "The Beginning" miss a few of my favourites too
Damn this thread is evil. I can't decide anything. |

Hardly obscure but in most cases the below are very important records for me due to a variety of reasons
Solitude Aeturnus - Into the Depth of Sorrow
Darkthrone - A Blaze in the Northern Sky
Slayer - Show No Mercy
Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Van Halen - 1st album
Metallica - And Justice For All
Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness
Megadeth - Peace Sells
TNT - Tell No Tales |

The toughest question ever. Here's some that lasted the test of time:
JUDAS PRIEST - Defenders Of The Faith
IRON MAIDEN - Somewhere In Time
RIOT - Thundersteel
BLACK SABBATH - Headless Cross/TYR (this counts as 1 ok?)
HEIR APPARENT - One Small Voice
RUNNING WILD - Death Or Glory
FATES WARNING - Perfect Symmetry
CRIMSON GLORY - Crimson Glory
JAG PANZER - Ample Destruction
RUSH - Grace Under Pressure
and if there's enough space in the bag:
BATHORY - Hammerheart/Twillight of the Gods/Blood On Ice
ROTTING CHRIST - Thy Mighty Contract
CLOVEN HOOF - Dominator/A Sultans Ransom
CIRITH UNGOL - One Foot In Hell
TYRANT - Legions Of The Dead/Too Late To Pray
ok, i better stop. |

For me, just the song "Welcome Princes of Hell" makes this album more essential... just...
...actually it IS the best MF song ever IMO!! |

Fucking difficult of course, I would bring my whole LP collection to a deserted island. But there are some albums I couldn't "live" without and they take a special place in my life. Listening to these albums is emotional, goosebumps all over, they are more than music for me, no words can describe their utter greatness. These albums are:
FATES WARNING: Awaken The Guardian
FATES WARNING: The Spectre Within
HOLY TERROR: Terror And Submission
BROCAS HELM: Black Death
SAVAGE GRACE: Master Of Disguise
CIRITH UNGOL: King Of The Dead
JUDAS PRIEST: Sad Wings Of Destiny
ADRAMELCH: Irae Melanox
HEIR APPARENT: Graceful Inheritance
OMEN: Battle Cry |
