Chips & Beer is a new metal mag meant to give coverage to real metal that isn’t being covered in depth elsewhere. It revolves around what makes our lives tolerable, Metal, Horror, Chips, Beer, Comics and Metal (old, new, no bullshit, no pose). But mostly, Metal.

Chips & Beer The Magazine

The mag contains interviews, reviews, special features, comics and lots of exclusive illustrations. It is printed on newsprint and is black and white throughout the interior pages. The covers are full color and glossy. Published by the creators, writers and designers/illustrators of TheLeftHandPath.com in association with 20 Buck Spin.

Interviews:
Negative Plane
Christian Mistress
Eerie Von
Pentagram
Glorious Times Book Editors (Alan and Brian)
Benjamin Vierling (cover artist for Weapon and others)
Matt ‘Putrid’ Carr (underground Death Metal artist)
Vanhelgd
Manilla Road

Features:
Primer on Manilla Road
One From The Grave (AC/DC Let There Be Rock tribute)
Thirsty & Miserable (Alcoholic conjurations from Cauchemar)

Comic:
4 page comic with appearances by Ghost & King Diamond by R. Storey & M. Moseley Smith

Reviews:
Approx 30 of varying length (more in future issues)

The Responsible Parties:
Stewart Voegtlin
Todd DePalma
Adam Ganderson
Beaver
Patrick Delaney
The Iron Heel
Chris Alpino

The magazine is approximately 100 pages long. It is initially available from 20 Buck Spin but will very soon be available via stores, distros and mailorders worldwide including Ajna, Nuclear War Now, Hells Headbangers, High Roller, Svart, Invictus Prod, At War With False Noise, Detest and many more to come. Get in touch for cheap wholesale at ironheel [at] chipsandbeer.net

All distro orders from 20 Buck Spin over $25 will get a free copy of Chips & Beer through the month of September 2011.

Issue #2 is already in the works!

Hmmm, looks pretty unorthodox but I'll bite. Issue 1 sounds interesting.

I bought the first two issues, like it. The inclusion of more art and text relating to it made a big difference to me, the typical interview after interview thing etc. doesn't do much for me. Unless people have some stories to tell, or it's a band I'm really interested most interviews are simply boring as hell, when you've read enough of them.

Read some of the reviews last night, like the different style there as well, made me smile Smile

Damn, this magazine looks so rad. Enough to get me back onto The Corroseum (well, this and unemployment will do that).

I've left Terrorizer now and am going to do my own zine, but these guys beat me to it by half a year... sods Wink

Watch this space for more details on my new zine - I hope some of you guys and girl (or are there more of us now?) will dig it Smile

Stoked people are enjoying it.

Also cool that you enjoy the reviews. A lot of people tend to have a "I can make up my own mind" click and download mentality, which misses the point I think. Like, does that mean you don't talk about music with other people either? Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

IT'S ALIVE

New York Metal Primer

Villains "Taxi Driver" illustration by Beaver / Slipped Disc Records Interview

Chris Black Interview

Cauldron Black Ram Interview. Illustration by Putrid.

At this time the new issue is only available direct from 20 Buck Spin. By next week they should be at various US distros (NWN, Ajna, etc) and within a few weeks in the EU (High Roller being the primary place over there). Profound Lore usually gets some for the Canadians. Also various book stores and record shops around North America.

Here is a bunch of info about the new issue, sample pics, etc:

The mag also has its own website now and eventually will have most of the reviews of prior issues and other stuff:
http://www.chipsandbeer.net

Any 20 Buck Spin order of $25 or more will get one free for a limited time.

Is there anywhere still stocking issue 1? Fantastic zine! The interview questions are especially well chosen.

Most of the distros carrying the mag still have copies of #1 and #3. Very few copies of #2 remaining (20buckspin is completely sold out). I suggest checking:

The Ajna Offensive
Nuclear War Now!
Hell's Headbangers
Aquarius Records
Cyclopean Records
Midheaven Mailorder
Profound Lore
Dark Descent Records

Europe

High Roller Records
Iron Bonehead
Terratur Productions

Thanks!
